My wages as a teenage tutor were just lowered. What should I do?

I am a freshman in high school and this is my first job. I am tutoring a sixth grader in mathematics and English comprehension. I just accepted the job (offering the first session for free) and tutored today, after which the student's father asked if my pay could be lowered from $10/h, which we initially agreed upon, to $7.50/h, due to the hard times in California. I accepted, but am not sure if I want to work for $7.50. What should I do?
