WHY CAN'T WE HAVE UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE AS AMERICANS?

Other countries pay higher taxes but also have better health care and better standards of living. America is the land of opportunity and we as people don't go to the hospital until it is to late. People say that is would make our country into a bunch of socialist but most of these countries are a democratic society. So why would it be bad for us to pay higher taxes to know when we are sick we can get help? It might even help prevent a lot of illness that people would not even think about. How many people have heard stories about people that have died because they had to self diagnois an illness because they could not afford to go to the hospital? We as americans are supposed to come together to help each other out but when it comes down to it the haves can always suppress the have-nots. I think when the american dream is all about the money we can get and not thinking about the people we can help or hurt along the way. If we can find money to kill why can't we find the money to heal....
