Are we obligated as voters?

We know everything there is to know about our favorite TV shows. We know stats on our favorite sports teams. Research stocks before we buy them, cars as well. Spend time finding the cheapest hotel room or airfare. Spend countless hours on youtube, facebook, and myspace. Even take time to get on here and ask and answer questions. Shouldn't we be obligated to know as much about who we are voting for as possible. Shouldn't we be more concerned about who is running our country than whats the latest celebrity gossip? Instead, we have an unqualified, inexperienced presidential candidate who could very well win based on what?.....He gives good speeches. Is it not our responsibility to know the candidates and not just the soundbites?
